Hosts Peru opened the scoring six minutes in through Andre Carrillo, but Brazil were back in the game in the 28th minute when Neymar converted a penalty he had won.

The first half finished 1-1, which set up for an entertaining second half, and the events that proceeded did not disappoint, especially for neutral supporters.

Renato Tapia fired Peru back into the lead in the 60th minute with a deflected effort that wrong-footed Brazil's shot-stopper on the night, Weverton. With just half an hour remaining, the Selecao were in danger of dropping points.

Everton winger Richarlison equalised for Brazil just five minutes later, though, after his Merseyside rival Roberto Firmino found him with an accurate header at the far post. In the 83rd minute, Tite's side went ahead through another Neymar penalty, this time won by substitute Everton Ribeiro.

The next six minutes saw two red cards for Peru, with both Carlos Caceda, who was a substitute on the bench, and Carlos Zambrano being given their marching orders for indiscretions. Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar then secured his third hat-trick for his country in the 94th minute.

Neymar has now scored 64 goals for his country, overtaking Ronaldo Nazario in second place in Brazil's all-time top goalscorers list.
