Paris Saint-Germain Hierarchy Want Rid Of Neymar

A shock report has suggested that Neymar could be on his way out of Paris Saint-Germain.

In 2017, the team from the French capital put out a statement of intent when they destroyed the previous record for a transfer fee by signing the Brazilian from Barcelona for €222 million (R3.6 billion).

After squandering a 4-1 lead in the previous season's UEFA Champions League to a Barca side led by Neymar himself, the Parisians' acquisition of the winger made them a force to be reckoned with in Europe.

However, PSG's relationship with the 30-year-old may soon come to its conclusion after the Ligue 1 log leaders exited Europe's premier club competition on Wednesday night following three Karim Benzema goals in 17 minutes.

According to journalist Romain Molina, via Get French Football News, the club's Qatari ownership "want to get rid" of the most expensive player in football history.

It is suggested that the French giants might want to take a different direction ideology-wise, with starlet Kylian Mbappe expected to join Real Madrid once his contract expires at the end of the season.

It is unlikely that PSG would make back the money they splurged on Neymar if they do sell him to another club, especially in a post-COVID-19 world.

The nine-time French champions signed him to a new five-year deal in 2021, and are one of very few teams that can pay his wages, so finding a club that would be willing to buy him will not be easy.

The player has experienced numerous medium-term injuries while playing in Paris and has often missed significant European games as a result too.

PSG have also since signed Mbappe, who arrived in the same window as the former Santos prodigy, while they added seven-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi to their roster last year. However, the front three has seemingly struggled to cultivate a cohesive relationship on the pitch.
