One of Cristiano Ronaldo's former opponents has revealed why the angry Juventus superstar refused to swap shirts after initially agreeing to the exchange.
Former Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino, who now plays as a striker for Cervo in the eighth tier of Italian football, has recalled how he and Ronaldo agreed to swap shirts when Juventus and his former club met last season.
However, the 41-year-old saved a penalty from the five-time Ballon d'Or winner during the match, which seemingly led to a change of heart from Ronaldo.
"We agreed to exchange our shirts, but after missing the penalty he was very angry," Sorrentino told Sky Sport Italia.
"It had never happened to him in Italy.
"In the changing room tunnel we met, he gave me a handshake and congratulated me, but he had a bad face, and he didn't give me his shirt.
"In the end, I took (Paulo) Dybala's. It went well anyway."
Juventus won that match 3-0 courtesy of goals from Douglas Costa, Emre Can and Daniele Rugani, while Ronaldo failed to score.
The Portugal captain's miss from the penalty spot in that fixture is the only spot-kick he has failed to convert since joining the Serie A giants.
