Newly appointed FC Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has revealed what Pep Guardiola told him about coaching Lionel Messi.
The Argentine's future at the Camp Nou remains doubtful after reportedly telling Koeman he is closer to leaving.
Koeman has already made it clear that he wants the six-time Ballon d'Or to remain in Spain ahead of the new season, but the player has just one year left on his contract.
However, the Dutchman revealed recently that he has close ties with Guardiola, who has first-hand experience of managing the Argentine superstar.
"Messi is a pure winner," Koeman told NOS, as per the Mirror.
"I am very close with Pep Guardiola and I am still in contact with him now.
"Pep told me that Messi wants to win, he wants to win everything. And if he doesn't win, he can get very annoyed. I am looking so much forward to work with him.
"I have to make sure that Messi will be able to function well in this team, and that he feels important. He is the captain of this club!
"He has to finish his career here. Messi is Barcelona and Barcelona is Messi."
