Messi Equals Incredible All-Time International Record

Argentina captain Lionel Messi has equalled a remarkable all-time record on the international stage, one that separates him from the rest.

The 37-year-old Inter Miami forward was on hand to assist Lautaro Martinez's goal in Argentina's 1-0 win over Peru in the early hours of Wednesday morning. 

According to reports, the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has now provided an incredible 58 assists on the international stage, drawing level with United States icon Landon Donovan. 

This means the former Barcelona captain has played a hand in 170 strikes in 191 appearances for the Albiceleste. 

Messi's new joint-record cements his place among football's greatest players of all time, having already become the second-best goalscorer in international football.

Only Cristiano Ronaldo (135) has scored more goals than the US-based Messi (112).
