FC Barcelona coach, Luis Enrique, has denied reports that Lionel Messi has snubbed his substitution request against Eibar.
Messi was seen responding with a thumbs up to Enrique and then ignoring further calls of his coach when the Spaniard looked like he wanted to sub his star player.
"Before making changes we generally ask the players and we make the decision afterwards," Enrique explained in his pre-match press conference for the Ajax game.
"What happened can be interpreted many ways, depending on who it serves. I will carry on doing what I have been doing."
Enrique then cast his eyes on the Champions League encounter with Ajax and insisted it's a very important game for the Catalan giants.
"We have to play a very complete match to ensure that Ajax are not allowed to show off their qualities, and they have a lot," he added.
"They are a very well-structured side and they attack well. Last season they made life difficult. They beat Barcelona and they are without doubt a difficult team to play against.
"They have the positional ability to play 4-3-3 and they know how to hurt you on the counter. They have all the qualities to play well here."
Barcelona are in second place in their group with three points from two games, while Ajax are in third with two points.
