FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has beaten Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo to the 2015 ESPYS award for the Best International Athlete.
Ronaldo Messi Nominated For ESPY Award
Messi was not only up against arch rival Ronaldo, but also Novak Djokovic, golfer Lydia Ko and F1 driver Lewis Hamilton.
The Argentine won the award back in 2011 and lifted the accolade again after an amazing season with Barcelona, where he helped them to secure a treble of trophies (La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League).
The 28-year-old managed to score 58 goals in 51 appearances for the Catalans, but also managed to assist 23 more goals.
The four time Ballon d'Or winner was also shortlisted as one of the 10 best players in Europe who are in contention for the UEFA Best Player in Europe award.

The ESPY awards is North America's sports version of the Oscars, and if Messi is to add the UEFA Best Player in Europe award to his CV this year, then it would confirm that he could be on his way to a fifth Ballon d'Or win next year.
