FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi seemingly refused to be subbed off by his coach Luis Enrique in the 3-0 victory over Eibar.
With 15 minutes remaining and his side 3-0 up, Enrique attempted to give Messi a rest ahead of the next busy weeks.
TV cameras clearly show Enrique calling his player "Leo, Leo" but the Argentine just gave his coach a thumbs up and ignored further calls of his manager from the touchline.
Enrique was forced to change his plans and instead replaced Neymar. Messi had scored one goal by the time, but he could have tied Telmo Zarra's all-time La Liga record with another one.
He is well-known for his reticence as in the past experienced by Enrique's predecessors Pep Guardila, Tito Vilanova and Tata Martino.
After the match, Enrique tried to play down the incident, say: "If you don't play Messi, you'd miss the goals he would have scored.
"He spurs on the rest of the team. It's great to have him in such great form, linking up so well with the other players up front."
FC Barcelona now face Ajax in the Champions League before traveling to Bernabeu for the El Clasico against Real Madrid.
