Former Ballon d'Or winner Jean-Pierre Papin believes that FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo are destroying the striker's role.

The former AC Milan and Bayern Munich forward was asked his opinion on Ronaldo and Messi, who have widely been regarded as the two best players in the world, and says that with the amount of goals they score, they're destroying the striker's role.
"They're unique," he told AS.
"They are spectacular. They are destroying the striker's role."
The Frenchman, who picked up the Ballon d'Or award in 1991, also touched on Barcelona's side, saying that he believes they can win the Champions League and La Liga due to their strength in attack.
"I think Barca can win the Champions League and La Liga," he added.
"They have three golden attackers.
"Luis Suarez was crazy in the first-leg against PSG. In the first match he worked for the good of the team and within 20 minutes he won the game.
"Messi is on another level; if he does not want to play, he will walk, but if he is motivated, he flies."
Messi and Ronaldo have shared the last seven Ballon d'Or trophies, with the Argentine winning four of them, and the Portuguese forward winning the prestigious award three times.

Between the two, they have played 91 games this season in all competitions, with 96 goals being scored.
