Cristiano Ronaldo kicked off the new year in style with a hat-trick on Monday afternoon, and in doing so created a small piece of history in Serie A.
Ronaldo was the chief-destroyer for Juve as they ran rampant over Cagliari, with the 34-year-old netting a treble and grabbing an assist in his side's 4-0 victory.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid's star's hat-trick also saw him create a piece of history in the Italian top-flight, with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner becoming the first-ever Portuguese player to net a treble in the Serie A.
Since the inception of the competition in 1926, more than 250 players have scored three or more times in a single match, but Ronaldo is the first player from the small European nation to do so.
The Bianconeri star has now scored 34 league goals in total in Italy and is just nine shy of breaking Rui Costa's record to become the Serie A's all-time leading Portuguese goalscorer.
Ronaldo's treble saw him climb to third in the league's goalscoring standings this season with 13 goals, behind Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku (14) and Lazio's Ciro Immobile (19).
