Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has made a massive claim about Lionel Messi's status in world football, and it might surprise many of the Argentine's fans.
Messi Responds To Conte's Comments
Many around the world regard the 30-year-old as the greatest footballer of all time, despite the player having never won a FIFA World Cup.
Drogba, however, despite praising Messi, feels the Blaugrana forward is not on the same level as Albiceleste icon Diego Maradona and Brazil hero Pele.
"He could stop now and he would have done a lot for football," he said, according to the Daily Express.
"He is not yet up to Maradona and Pele, but it is not far at all.
"Winning a World Cup would make him even more legendary. He is a player who is out of the ordinary."
There are many who feel that Messi does not need to win the biggest trophy in world football to earn himself a ranking alongside the aforementioned Pele and Maradona.
