Following his side's 3-1 UEFA Champions League final win over Liverpool this past weekend, Ronaldo stunned many when, in a post-match interview, he suggested he could be on his way out of the club.
The 33-year-old hinted that he is not completely happy at Real at the moment, and according to a journalist and friend of his, Nuno Gomes, the player's issue is his current earnings.
"The two will come to an understanding," Gomes told El Larguero.
"He is the best player in the world. If you look at how he is paid, Cristiano is very underpaid and he wants a sign from the club, like Barcelona did with Xavi, (Andres) Iniesta and (Lionel) Messi.
"They renewed them bit by bit. That makes you happy, content and you get money from the club."
Gomes went into further detail about the situation, claiming that Ronaldo was promised a bigger wage would be offered to him.
"He was promised that the club would renew and raise his wage," he added.
"When he asked the club, they said it wasn't the moment. The season finished and nothing happened.
"He feels a bit put out, sad because they didn't stick to their word."
Ronaldo scored 44 goals and assisted a further eight strikes in 44 games for Real in the 2017/18 campaign.
