They have faced each other a few times on opposing teams in the Uefa Champions League, with many remembering Ronaldo's stunning bicycle kick goal against Buffon in 2018.

They could have linked up last season already, but the Italian goalkeeper had left Juve after 17 years to join Paris Saint-Germain by the time Ronaldo moved from Real Madrid to the Serie A giants.

However, the 41-year-old returned to the Bianconeri ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, and the old foes are now teammates.

During a recent event, Ronaldo was asked if Buffon, who is yet to win the Uefa Champions League, spoke to him about lifting the coveted trophy, and he revealed what the shot-stopper told him in their first chat.

"He hasn't said anything about it, but we've spoken because he's someone I've admired and we've faced each other many times," the Portugal talisman said, as quoted by Marca.

"He told me he was happy that we are together now, and I said the same because, in my opinion, he's one of the best goalkeepers in the world, if not the best.

"Him and Iker Casillas are in football's history books and I'm happy to be with him because he's a five-star man."
