Cristiano Ronaldo Blocks Transfermarkt After Star Was Unhappy With €75 Million Valuation

Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly let his frustrations be known when he found out a certain website had valued him way below what he thought he was worth.

The Portuguese forward reportedly took issue with an Instagram post from Transfermarkt in March 2020, when the publication valued an XI that consisted entirely of super-agent Jorge Mendes' clients.

In the graphic, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was valued at €75 million (R1.3 billion).

Explaining how the incident transpired, Transfermarkt co-ordinator Christian Schwarz told The Athletic that Ronaldo was the one who got in touch with them first, expressing his displeasure before he blocked their account on Instagram.

"He sent a message first to our social media guys. They answered him, explained why, and told him, 'The people in your age group, you are by far the number one,'" he said.

"It was £30-50 million difference [between Ronaldo and the next player on the list], and then he sent some smilies, and then he blocked us."

In the Mendes XI, only Bernardo Silva was valued higher, at €100 million (R1.7 billion), than his compatriot.

Schwarz also emphasised that age has a big part to play when constructing a value for a player.

"Age is now one of the most important factors," he added. "And Cristiano Ronaldo is old, same with Lionel Messi, and they will get their value reduced just because of their age."
