Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who won the Ballon d'Or and The Best FIFA Men's Player awards recently, has beaten FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi to yet another prize.

After celebrating an incredible 2017, Real Madrid were named as the team of the year on Thursday at the Globe Soccer Awards, while Ronaldo was named the best player of the year.
Although he was not in attendance, the Portuguese was delighted with his latest accolade.
"It is a special moment and I am very happy to receive this award," he said, according to Marca.
"I would like to thank the coach, my teammates and Real Madrid.
"Thanks to the people that voted for me, and do the same next year."

Real boss Zinedine Zidane was named as their best coach for 2017, after winning trophies such as the UEFA Champions League, La Liga and FIFA Club World Cup with Los Blancos.
