There is a widespread belief that the FC Barcelona superstar has more natural talent than the Real Madrid talisman, so Ronaldo has therefore had to work harder to reach his level.
However, Tevez, who played alongside Messi for Argentina and Ronaldo during his time at Manchester United, has insisted that the Albiceleste captain works just as hard.
"Messi works on his talent, too," he told Marca.
"Just look at how, when Leo started, he never scored goals from free-kicks, he practised them loads, and now he scores loads like that.
"I don't think that, with Cristiano Ronaldo, it's a matter of work more than talent.
"Messi, in the last two years, has begun to really take care about what he's eating, he's ditched the cola, etc."

Tevez left Juventus at the end of the 2014/15 campaign to return to his boyhood club Boca Juniors, and has since won the Argentine Primera Division and Copa Argentina double.
