After the talisman scored one and assisted the other against the Bundesliga outfit, the Italian coach suggested that it was always going to be a matter of time until Cristiano Ronaldo found the net. Ancelotti also stated that his lack of goals in his last few games had little effect on Los Blancos, and feels that his team is improving.
"Cristiano was born to score goals. Between us and the team we had no problems if Cristiano did not score in one or two games," he told AS.
"Sooner or later he's going to score. He was important for us, he scored one and assisted the other. The whole team is growing and the reaction has been good."
Ancelotti then touched on his team's performance, saying that his side were always in control of the tie at the Veltins Arena.
"I liked the game. We played with a good attitude and not too high intensity because the game did not require it," he added.
"We were patient in the first half and we controlled things well. We only had a small threat and I think we played well overall."
Ronaldo was named Man of the Match in Germany, where he scored the first goal with a well-timed header, and assisted the second goal, setting up Marcelo on his right foot.
The Portuguese superstar scored his first goal in four games, and saw his Champions League goal tally rise to six for the season, with his overall tally at 37 goals.
