With Marcus Rashford in the final six months of his current deal with Manchester United, reports suggest that the England international's immediate future has now been decided.

With just under two weeks before the new year, the 25-year-old would be free to speak to and sign for any clubs outside of England as of 1 January, with the end of his current contract at Old Trafford set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
However, that is no longer possible, according to The Athletic. The news outlet is reporting that the Red Devils have triggered the one-year extension option in the deal Rashford signed in 2019. This means the Manchester native will continue his 18-year stay at the Theatre of Dreams for at least another season.
The attacker has enjoyed a resurgence in form under Erik ten Hag, having bagged eight goals and three assists for the record Premier League champions in all competitions already in this campaign, with some believing the option being triggered is to protect what seems to be an appreciating asset in the club's No. 10.
The forward's good form carried into the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where he scored three goals, and it was these performances that earned the praise of Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who openly admitted to wanting to sign the Englishman if he becomes available on a free transfer.

Rashford will now likely play for United for at least another season, and will be joined in doing so by Fred, Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot, who will reportedly also have their extensions triggered by the Mancunian club.
