The Red Devils recently appointed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach after sacking Erik ten Hag late last month.

The Portuguese tactician arrives from his homeland, where he achieved incredible success with Sporting CP.

More recently, the Lisbon native owed much of his former team's triumphs to the talents of Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The Stockholm-born forward signed for the Lions at the start of last season after plying his trade in the English Championship with Coventry City. At the Estadio Jose Alvalade, he has catapulted himself to be regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe.

Last season, the 26-year-old scored an astonishing 43 goals and provided 15 assists in 50 matches across all competitions. This campaign, the Scandinavian sensation has already notched 23 goals and four assists in just 18 matches.

This remarkable form has attracted interest from multiple elite European sides, with the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern Munich all rumoured to be keen on his services. However, a potential stumbling block in acquiring his signature may be his release clause.

It is understood that Gyokeres' buyout clause stands at €100 million. According to Diario AS, United have no problem paying this figure, as it seems Amorim is determined to reunite with his former talisman.
