According to The Sun, former Red Devils shot-stopper David de Gea has turned down the chance to head to Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr to play alongside former teammate Ronaldo.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner made the switch to the Knights of Najd at the beginning of the year and has since been joined by another former United player in Alex Telles, but they will not be reunited with their Spanish counterpart as it is believed that De Gea's wife is not keen on the prospect of moving to the Middle East.
This is said to be the reason why the 33-year-old will not be signing the rumoured £500 000 per week (R11.4 million) contract that was offered to him.
The same report does, however, suggest that the Spain international is more open to moving to Major League Soccer side Inter Miami.
There, he would have the prospect of playing alongside Ronaldo's long-time nemesis Messi as well as a couple of his former international teammates in Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.

The possibility of returning to United is also rumoured to be on the cards.
With current Red Devils No. 1 Andre Onana expected to leave the club temporarily for international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations in January and February, the abovementioned English publication has claimed that the record Premier League winners could yet offer De Gea a short-term deal to return.
