The Red Devils are looking to reinforce their defence, and are believed to have a shortlist of players they are interested in for the position, but it is Bayern's Benjamin Pavard whom they reportedly want the most.
The Mancunians are understood to already be in talks with the Bavarian giants for the potential transfer, and while previous reports claimed that the Bundesliga side's asking price for the 27-year-old was €35 million (R731 million), 90min state that the German champions have increased this to €40 million (R835 million), plus add-ons.
The same report claims that both Pavard and United are not happy with Die Roten's price change, but while the record Premier League champions do have other options in mind, such as Jean-Clair Todibo, Edmond Tapsoba, Perr Schuurs and Jarrad Branthwaite, they especially appreciate Pavard for his versatility, with the France international equally adept at both centre-back and right-back.
The Maubeuge native has won a plethora of trophies since arriving at the Allianz Arena from Stuttgart in 2019, and is reportedly keen on a new challenge at Old Trafford, but with Bayern having failed to sign Kyle Walker from Manchester City, they are no longer as open to letting the Les Bleus leave as they may have been previously.
