Why Sergio Ramos Hasn't Played For Paris Saint-Germain Yet

Following his exciting move to Paris Saint-Germain in the previous transfer window, former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is yet to make his debut for the French giants.

Messi Unhappy In France?

Plenty of enthusiasm followed the 35-year-old's move to the capital of France, but he has not yet turned out for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Ramos' injury-ridden final campaign with Los Blancos, during which he was unavailable for 30 matches across all competitions, resulted in his absence from Spain's squad for the 2020 UEFA European Championship.

In France, the defender's injury woes have continued, with the 2010 FIFA World Cup winner having missed all 12 of PSG's games since the 2021/22 season got underway.

Calf muscle issues have denied supporters of the French giants from seeing the stalwart in competitive action to date, with L'Equipe now suggesting that his return to the pitch could be delayed once again as a precautionary measure.

Many believed Ramos would be set to make his debut in PSG's Ligue 1 clash against Angers on Friday night, but the French publication has now suggested he will not, despite him having taken part in the team's training session on Wednesday.

The 180-time Spanish international last featured in May, in the UEFA Champions League for Los Blancos, and is said to be pushing for his return.

What is Ramos' legacy?

The centre-back is widely regarded among the best-ever players in his position after his success with Real Madrid and Spain since bursting on to the scene in the early 2000s at Sevilla.

After 45 senior appearances for the Ciudad Deportiva-based club as a teenager, Ramos made the move across to Madrid, where he represented Los Blancos on 671 occasions, winning 22 trophies and scoring an incredible 101 goals along the way.

Ramos is also the record appearance-maker for his country and has claimed three major titles with La Furia Roja – the 2008 and 2012 European Championship, and 2010 World Cup.

Furthermore, he has been named in the FIFA FIFPro World XI 11 times, and in the UEFA Team of the Year on nine occasions.
