Amid rumours linking Kylian Mbappe with moves to Real Madrid and Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has provided an update on the superstar's future.
The 22-year-old's current contract with PSG is set to expire at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, but the French giants want to tie him down to a new deal in order to prevent the risk of losing him for nothing.
Mbappe is yet to make a decision on his future, though, and is reportedly demanding a massive annual salary worth €36 million (R638 million) a year to extend his stay at the Parc des Princes.
However, Leonardo has now insisted that talks between the player and the club are going well, and that the forward must soon decide on the next step in his career.
"I have been surprised by some of the talk surrounding Mbappe," Les Parisiens' sporting director told France Bleu.
"He still has a full season (remaining on his contract). His status at the club is more and more important, and he is constantly shouldering more responsibilities.
"Then there is consistency and his career path to take into account. We have been talking to him for some time and the time to make a decision has arrived."
In addition, Leonardo also confirmed that talks over a new deal for Neymar are going well, while the club also wants to extend Angel Di Maria and Juan Bernat's contracts too.
"We have also been talking with Neymar," the Brazilian added.
"We are on the right track. The contract is not signed yet. We are at a good moment with him. The aim is to close it as quickly as possible.
"There are also talks with Angel Di Maria and Juan Bernat. We want to renew all four of them."
