The Spain international has struggled since joining the French giants last year, making just five appearances in all competitions this season due to fitness and injury issues.
Niggling calf problems seem to continue to leave Ramos feeling far from his best, with the 35-year-old expected to miss PSG's first UEFA Champions League last-16 tie against his former club Real Madrid next week, while it is feared he could also miss the second leg in Spain.
According to Le Parisien, genuine concerns have emerged that the soon-to-be 36-year-old could be forced to hang up his boots amid his ongoing and seemingly constant injury woes.
Ramos is said to be suffering from a calf issue similar to the one that saw him ruled out of Spain's 2020 UEFA European Championship squad, although it is his right leg this time, meaning he is having issues with both legs.
A former doctor employed by the France national team, Jean-Marcel Ferret, has weighed in on the matter.
"The injuries are very difficult because you can never predict how they will evolve," he told Le Parisien.
"It's all about the configuration of the calf muscle. You have to consider how the muscle has aged given the blows Ramos has taken in his career while playing at the highest level for 19 seasons, and how much that has weakened his calves."
