Paris Saint-Germain CEO Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has explained why the club chose to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager.
Pochettino's arrival was confirmed on Saturday after the Ligue 1 champions decided to part ways with German tactician Thomas Tucheel earlier in the week.
While Pochettino's stock has risen in recent years after his spell with Tottenham Hotspur, he is yet to win a major trophy as a manager.
Al-Khelafi believes the Argentine coach fits perfectly with PSG's ambitions going forward.
"We are very pleased to welcome Mauricio Pochettino as first team coach," said Nasser Al-Khelaïfi told the club's official website.
"I am proud to see our former captain returning to Paris Saint-Germain, as the Club has always remained his home. The return of Mauricio fits perfectly with our ambitions and it will be another exciting chapter for the club and one I am positive the fans will enjoy.
"With the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino, Paris Saint-Germain is committed to continue to build and move the club forward over the coming years."
