Ligue 1 Report: Paris-Saint German v Bordeaux

Result: Paris-Saint German 2-2 Bordeaux

Date: 28 November 2020

Venue: Parc de Princes

Paris Saint-Germain missed the chance to go five points clear at the top of the French Ligue 1 table after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Bordeaux on Saturday evening.

PSG manager Thomas Tuchel made six changes from their win over RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League, as he installed a new centre-back pairing of Timothee Pembele and Presnel Kimpembe alongside recalls for Marco Veratti, Rafinha, Moise Kean and goalkeeper Sergio Rico.

Tuchel's charges had a bad start after Pembele conceded an own goal in the tenth minute by turning his back towards a cross by Josh Maja and it ricocheted off his body and into the back of the net.

The hosts got a lifeline in the 24th minute with a penalty awarded in their favour after Neymar was brought down inside the box and the Brazilian went up himself to take the spot-kick and sent goalkeeper Benoit Costil the wrong way.

PSG completed the turnaround two minutes later after Kean capitalised on a save by Costil from Neymar's long range strike and fired into an empty net.

Costil was keeping Bordeaux in the game with brilliant saves, ten minutes before the break as he denied Kylian Mbappe on two occasions, first tipping his strike over the bar and tipped his header into the frame of the goal.

The French goalkeeper was at it again just before the break as he denied Rafinha the third goal for PSG saving a low shot with his feet and the Brazilian could not capitalise on the rebound, as he guided his header just wide of the far post.

The game was opening up early in the second stanza and former PSG youngster Yacine Adli equalised for Bordeaux on the hour-mark with a curling strike past Rico after exchanging passes with Hatem Ben Arfa.

The game was there for the taking in the last 20 minutes for either side with chances flowing from end to end but they were let down by their finishing.

Nicolas De Preville should have snatched the winner for the visitors in the last four minutes after racing through on goal on a counter-attack but he hit his strike straight at Rico.

Mbappe had a chance for PSG immediately thereafter with a burst of pace inside the box but blasted his strike over the bar and the sides shared the spoils in the end, with the Parisians going three points clear at the top of the log.
