Ligue 1

Result: Montpellier 3-2 Paris Saint-Germain

Date: 30 April 2019

Venue: Stade de la Mosson

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain failed to bounce back from the French Cup final loss after losing 3-2 to Montpellier on Tuesday evening.

Neymar led the attack alongside Julian Draxler and Eric Choupo-Moting, while Kylian Mbappe missed out through suspension.

PSG got the opening goal as early as the 12th minute, with Montpellier's Ambroise Onyongo turning the ball into his own net while trying to clear Juan Bernat's cross.

However, the hosts were level soon after as PSG netted an own goal of the own as Le Tallec's header deflected off Prensel Kimpembe and sailed past Gianluigi Buffon.

Thomas Tuchel's troops looked for a way to restore their lead, but it was Montpellier who went closest just before the break as Andy Delort blazed over the crossbar with only Buffon to beat.

The Ligue 1 champions took control in the second half but had to wait until the 62nd minute for the go-ahead goal as Angel di Maria weaved his way around a defender before firing home.

Montpellier were presented with a chance to pull level with 15 minutes remaining, but Delort once again squandered a chance in the box.

Delort made amends for his earlier misses as he brought the home side level on 80 minutes after turning home a cross from Florent Mollet.

The turnaround was complete five minutes later as Souleymane Camara, who replaced Delort, found the back of the net with a first-time finish just two minutes after his introduction.

PSG pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but Montpellier were able hold on for the victory to boost their slim top four hopes.
