Ligue 1 Report: Montpellier v Paris Saint-Germain

Ligue 1 Report: Montpellier v Paris Saint-Germain

Result: Montpellier 1-3 Paris Saint-Germain

Date: 05 December 2020

Venue: Stade de la Mosson

Paris Saint-Germain moved four points clear at the top of Ligue 1 after defeating Keagan Dolly's Montpellier 3-1 on Saturday night.

Neymar was left out of the squad completely while Kylian Mbappe was only named on the bench, as Dolly had to settle for a spot among the Montpellier substitutes.

Montpellier, who were without Andy Derlot, nearly found themselves ahead after 28 minutes but Mollet saw his stinging effort saved by Keylor Navas.

Even without Neymar and Mbappe on the pitch, PSG looked menacing in the attack but they had to wait until the 33rd minute for the opening goal as Angel di Maria set up Colin Dagba for the neat finish.

Montpellier managed to claw themselves level four minutes before the break as Stephy Mavididi sent a powerful strike past Navas after his initial attempt was blocked.

PSG looked for a quick response in the second half as Di maria and Moise Kean went close to find the back of the net in the opening 15 minutes.

Dolly, meanwhile, made his introduction in the 63rd minutes after replacing Yun Il-Lok as the home side pushed for an equaliser.

However, the visitors got their reward in the 77th minute as Kean got his name on the scoresheet with a powerful strike from close-range after some good work by Rafinha.

Mbappe was eventually introduced in the final 10 minutes and he had the final say after neting PSG's third goal by turning home Layvin Kurzawa's cross.
