Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has revealed why he once turned down the chance to join Real Madrid.
It is fairly common knowledge that the France international took a trip to Madrid in 2014 to visit the Spanish giants, who were believed to be interested in securing his signature at the time.
It was then that Mbappe met his idol Cristiano Ronaldo and compatriot Zinedine Zidane, but he ultimately returned to Monaco as his parents wanted him to finish his schooling in his home country.
"My parents wanted me to start my career in France, to be educated in France," he told L'Obs.
"To play football, but also to continue my education. To go to Spain, even if it was with Zidane, it was another country, another culture..."
After breaking through at Monaco in 2015, Mbappe spent two years in the club's first team before joining PSG.
With his current contract expiring in June 2022, the forward continues to be linked with the 13-time UEFA Champions League winners.
