With Kylian Mbappe being linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain trying to tie him down to a new deal, the France superstar has now given an update on his situation.
The 22-year-old's current contract with PSG is set to expire in June 2022, and the French giants want to extend his deal in order to prevent losing him for free after next season.
Mbappe, though, has now confirmed that no progress has been made in contract talks, and stated that the constant media criticism and scrutiny he receives could play an important role in any decision he eventually makes about his future.
"If it had progressed, I would have come to talk about it already. Of course, I will talk about it when I have made up my mind," he told RTL, as cited by Goal.
"Of course, it (media criticism) gets tiring, especially when you play for a club in your country and you give everything for your national team. After a while, it gets tiring.
"It's different for players who play abroad and only come back here for the national team. I'm there all the time, they speak about me a lot more. It's a different context, but I knew it would be like that when I signed for Paris. We'll see.
"Of course, it (media scrutiny) plays a part, but it's not just that. The most important thing is to feel good where you are, and to have fun every day."
Mbappe could also leave PSG after the current campaign, but the coronavirus pandemic has had a massive negative impact on many potential suitors' financial situations.
If, however, the Ligue champions and Mbappe are unable to agree to a new deal, this would put pressure on the Parisian club to sell in order to not lose him for free at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
