French Ligue 1 Report: Monaco v Paris Saint-Germain 26 November 2017

French Ligue 1

Result: Monaco 1-2 Paris Saint-Germain

Date: 26 November 2017

Venue: Stade Louis II

Paris Saint-Germain moved nine points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 standings after they defeated defending champions AS Monaco 2-1 on Sunday evening.

PSG should have gone ahead after just two minutes when Neymar picked out Kylian Mbappe, who rounded Danijel Subasic but failed to convert into an empty net.

After a quiet spell, the visitors broke the deadlock in the 19th minute as Julian Draxler picked out Edinson Cavani, who flicked the ball past Subasic, 0-1.

Monaco looked to hit back and they went close in the 27th minute when Radamel Falcao sent a curling free-kick just over the crossbar.

Unai Emery's charges controlled possession well in the first half and never looked like being hurt by the home side in the remaining stages of the first half.

PSG nearly doubled their advantage three minutes into the second half, but Neymar saw his strike rattle the frame of the goal with Subasic well beaten.

Three minutes later, the visitors were awarded a penalty when Neymar was brought down in the box. The Brazilian stepped up and duly converted the spot-kick, 0-2.

PSG opted for a change on 69 minutes as Yuri Berchiche replaced Layvin Kurzawa for the final 20 minutes.

It took a while for Monaco to get going in the second half, but they managed to pull a goal back in the 81st minute courtesy of a fine free-kick from Joao Moutinho.

PSG managed to see off a late surge from Monaco to claim a vital away win.
