With a footballer based in France said to have been dropped for farting in his team's dressing room, the player has responded to the wild rumour on social media.
Earlier this week, French publication L'Equipe suggested that former Olympique Lyon defender Marcelo had been kicked out of the club's first team for excessive farting.
The behaviour was believed to have been labelled as "inappropriate" by Lyon, who later terminated his contract before he joined Bordeaux.
On Tuesday, the 34-year-old Brazilian took to Twitter to laugh off the accusation.
"Thanks to @lequipe, after a long time, I have to come back to @Twitter to deny all the allegations. Journalism nowadays is a joke!"
Former Lyon sporting director Juninho, who at the time apparently grew frustrated with his compatriot for his behaviour, then chimed in with a joke.
"See, I told you, defender has to fart loud, long and stinky. Yours was only loud, then it's weak."
Lyon had previously issued a statement in which they said Marcelo had been unprofessional following a loss to Angers in Ligue 1, leading to the rumour that he was in trouble for breaking wind.
