Coupe De France Semi-Final

Result: Paris Saint-Germain 5-0 AS Monaco

Date: 26 April 2017

Venue: Parc des Princes

Paris Saint-Germain thrashed AS Monaco 5-0 at the Parc de Princes to secure their spot in the French Cup final.

PSG had the first chance of the game in the fifth minute when Angel Di Maria picked out Edinson Cavani, who headed straight at De Sanctis from close range.   Alphonse Areola was called into action in the 21st minute as the PSG shot-stopper did well to keep out Diallo's effort from close range.   The Paris outfit eventually took the lead five minutes later as Cavani pounced on De Sanctis' error to tee up Julian Draxler for the simple tap-in.   Cavani then registered his name on the score-sheet in the 26th minute as the striker turned home Di Maria's cross with a fine back-heel.   The hosts nearly added third on the stroke of halftime but Blaise Matuidi's strike crashed against the upright.   The lead was extended five minutes into the second half when Monaco's Safwan Mbae put the ball through his own net, following a cross from Marquinhos.   It was 4-0 two minutes later as Di Maria turned provider again to tee  up Matuidi, who had the simple task of slotting home from three-yards out.   Monaco were struggling to carve out chance but they went close in the 73rd minute when Adrien Bongiovanni forced Areola into a good dave.   Unai Emery's charges were in full control in the closing stages and added a fifth goal in stoppage time, courtesy of a strike from Marcos Correa.
