Reports suggest that Barcelona have found two potential replacements for Sergio Busquets, and could look to make one of them their first signing next season.
Messi Admits He Wanted Neymar To Stay At Barca
The 2022/23 campaign is expected to be the final one of Busquets' career with the Blaugrana, and having been such an integral part of the club's success since graduating from its famed La Masia academy, Barca are understood to be making the defensive midfield position one of their top priorities when the next off-season transfer window opens.
As such, the five-time European champions are said to have already identified two potential candidates to succeed the decorated Spaniard at the Camp Nou.
According to Marca, Barca have singled out Martin Zubimendi and Ruben Neves as players good enough to take the 36-year-old's place in the team.
The Blaugrana are said to be big admirers of Zubimendi, but with Real Sociedad being notoriously tough negotiators, it is unlikely they will let the 23-year-old go for anything less than his €60 million (R1 billion) release clause.
Four Barca Players Get Injured On International Duty
Wolverhampton Wanderers' Neves is also a midfielder Barca are keen on. The Portugal international will likely command a large fee as well but given the relationship his agent, Jorge Mendes, and Barca president Joan Laporta have, it is likely a favourable figure could be negotiated for the Mozelos native.
