Sergio Aguero has reportedly made a decision for the rest of his salary with Barcelona after announcing his retirement this week.
The Argentine striker signed a two-year contract with the Catalan giants after leaving Manchester City on a free transfer at the end of last season.
However, Catalan outlet L'Ara have reported that Aguero has waived the second year of his contract with the Spanish club and has only asked to paid for the current season.
The reports the the amount for the current season will be covered by Barcelona's medical insurance policy due to the nature of his sudden retirement.
Aguero's last appearance for Blaugrana came against Deportivo Alaves on 30 October 2021, where he was taken off in the first half due to breathing issues.
The gesture by Aguero is good news for the club and their documented financial issues, as they will now be able to register Dani Alves who joined the club on a free transfer.
Alves will only be eligible to make his official return from 1 January 2021 as he joined the club outside of the transfer window.
