Official: Barcelona Announce Departure Of 2018 FIFA World Cup Winner

In the midst of their ongoing financial crisis, Barcelona have now announced the season-long departure of one of their 2018 FIFA World Cup winners.

The Catalan giants have agreed to loan out France international Samuel Umtiti to Serie A side Lecce for the duration of the 2022/23 campaign. 

The 28-year-old played just once in LaLiga for the Blaugrana for the whole of last season, having been plagued by injuries in recent campaigns. 

The central defender has seen his role diminish gradually since he returned from his triumph in Russia with the French national team, and will be hoping to reignite his career in the Italian top flight.
