Result: Getafe 0-0 Real Madrid

Real Madrid's stuttering form in LaLiga continued after they were held to a goalless draw by top-four hopefuls Getafe on Thursday evening.

Gareth Bale and Brahim Diaz returned to the line up to alongside Karim Benzema, who bagged a hat-trick in his last game.

While Los Blancos look destined to to finish third, Getafe had aspirations of their of their own as they looked to solidly fourth spot.

The game got off to a slow start, with the first opening arriving after 31 minutes as Los Blancos shot-stopper Keylor Navas was forced to deny Mauro Arambarri.

There has been a lot of talk about Bale's future in recent weeks, but the Welshman did carve out a chance five minutes before the break for Benzema, who was denied by David Soria in the box.

The visitors came out firing in the second half as Casemiro and Dani Carvajal went close with efforts from distance inside the opening 10 minutes.

The chances continued to fall for Real as Diaz showed great footwork to weave his way into the box before seeing his strike denied by Soria.

Both sides threatened for the winning goal, and Getafe went closest through Samuel Sáiz on 90 minutes, but the attacker was denied by a save from Keylor Navas as the clash ended scoreless.

Los Blancos now sit six points behind second-place Atletico Madrid while, while Getafe drop to fifth after Sevilla's big win over Real Vallecano.
