With rumours suggesting that Atletico Madrid's club-record €127 million (R2.3 billion) signing could leave them in January, head coach Diego Simeone has added fuel to the speculation with his latest comments.
Shock Bundesliga Side Ronaldo Was Offered To Revealed
Joao Felix enjoyed a decent 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as his two goals and one assist in four matches helped Portugal reach the quarter-finals.
While his international form has been good, however, his club form has been the polar opposite.
The 23-year-old has found the back of the net just four times in 18 matches for Los Rojiblancos this season, with many feeling he has failed to live up to his price tag.
Atletico president Miguel Angel Gil Marin earlier this month hinted at a breakdown in the relationship between Simeone and Felix, one which may be irreparable, and it is because of that the forward could be on his way out of the club in the next transfer window.
Asked recently if the sale of the fifth-most expensive player in history was possible, Simeone refused to pour cold water on the rumours.
"No one is indispensable and things will be as they have to be," the Argentine tactician told members of the media, as per Sports Mole.
"It is very important for us. He [Felix] has had a good World Cup, he participated in goals with the importance that the coach gave him.
"Hopefully we can have the best Joao who he saw himself in the World Cup.
"Hopefully we also give him that peace of mind and joy to show in the game all that was seen in the World Cup."
The Club Messi Has Verbal Agreement With Revealed?
In 2019, Felix signed a seven-year contract with the 11-time LaLiga champions for a club record transfer fee, but the attacker's 33 goals in 129 appearances have left many disappointed considering his huge price tag.
