Andre Onana has addressed the alleged friction between him and Cameroonian Football Federation president Samuel Eto'o.

The Manchester United goalkeeper left the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after playing one game at the global showpiece. Following the Indomitable Lions' 1-0 loss to Switzerland, the shot-stopper left the team's camp after supposedly getting into a disagreement with head coach Rigobert Song and Eto'o over his style of play. Shortly after the incident, the Nkol Ngok native decided to retire from international football.
It has been alleged that the situation fostered a frosty relationship between the national team star and the federation's president. Onana, however, unretired ahead of a crucial 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Burundi and, while he has been with the five-time African champions for every camp since, it is believed that there is still some simmering tension with Eto'o.
When asked about the allegations of discontent between him and the former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker, the 28-year-old alluded to being a victim of misinformation within football in his homeland.
"Honestly, there are a lot of things that happened. The problem with me is that I don't talk. And when you don't talk, someone talks for you. There was a lot of manipulation," the 42-capped international told Le Media Carre.

They followed up by asking Onana whether there could be a truce with the FECAFOOT chief, to which he responded: "Bury the hatchet with Samuel Eto'o? I have never been to war. Why should I bury the hatchet if there has never been a war?"
