Many expected the Gabon international to join the French giants in this transfer window, but new reports suggest that PSG have dropped their interest.
According to Sky Sports, Guardiola's City have now entered the race for the 28-year-old, who would apparently cost £60 million (R992 million).
Borussia Dortmund would reportedly be prepared to let Aubameyang go, but only if they receive an offer that matches their valuation.
City are said to believe there are only a few high quality strikers on the market, and rate Aubameyang in that bracket.
Guardiola, who knows the African from his time in the Bundesliga at Bayern Munich, is understood to be an admirer of the striker and is pushing for the move.
Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool are also reportedly monitoring the forward's situation.
