The Portuguese is apparently still looking for a central midfielder, a winger and a new forward, having already secured the services of centre back Victor Lindelof.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Mourinho has identified Barca's Andre Gomes as his next target, and has already sent his agent Jorge Mendes to Spain.
The report claimed that Mendes has enquired about Gomes' availability, but his approach was rejected by the Catalan giants' board and new coach Ernesto Valverde.
United are said to have tabled a €35 million (R508 million) offer for the midfielder, but the message they received was that the Portuguese is not for sale.
Valverde reportedly wants to keep Gomes, despite the player failing to live up to expectations in his first season at the Camp Nou.
