The Chilean football Federation has written to world football governing body FIFA to investigate a claim that midfielder Byron Castillo is not eligible to represent Ecuador.
The complaint was made a month after the South American qualifiers finished, where Ecuador finished fifth in qualifying table while Chile finished in seventh.

'FIFA can confirm that it has received a formal complaint from the Chilean FA in relation to this matter,' football's governing body said in a statement.

Ecuador were recently drawn in Group A alongside hosts Qatar, Netherlands and Africa Cup of Nations Senegal.
