Spain Starlet Admits To Being Frustrated With Barca Role

A young Spain star has revealed he wants a more substantial role at Barcelona following a slow start to the season.

Sterling Makes World Cup 'Decision' After Leaving England Camp

Ansu Fati has been used sparingly by Barca head coach Xavi Hernandez in the 2022/23 campaign so far, with the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha ahead him in the attacking pecking order at the Camp Nou.

The Bissau-born attacker, who has started only five times for the Blaugrana all season, has now admitted to being frustrated by his lack of playing time but also vowed to work his way back to a starting berth in Catalonia.

"Yes, I'm not going to lie to you. I want to play but I understand that the coach is the one who decides and I have to do my best every day to be able to turn it around," the 22-year-old told Mundo Deportivo.

Asked if he had any doubts about his future with the Catalan giants in light of his lack of game time, the La Masia graduate replied: "No, now I'm focused on the selection. Surely working in the present, the future will be better."

Much of Fati's young career has been blighted by significant injuries, and his minimal usage at Barca of late has had an adverse effect on his national team opportunities as his minutes for La Furia Roja have also been limited.

The 20-year-old was also asked in the same interview if there are any similarities between Xavi and Spain head coach Luis Enrique.

"I think that each coach has his way of seeing things," Fati added.

"Everyone has their way of being, explaining and playing.

"In the end Luis Enrique and Xavi are different, but because one is training a club and the other a national team. I see it differently."
