According to Mundo Deportivo, La Masia academy product and teenage sensation Lamine Yamal is being strongly considered to play for Spain's senior national team in their upcoming 2024 UEFA European Championship qualifiers.
The 16-year-old is reportedly in La Furia Roja head coach Luis de la Fuente's thinking as he ponders which players he wants in his squad ahead of their games against Georgia and Cyprus in the next international break.
The attacker made history against Real Betis last season, when he became the youngest-ever player to don the famous red and blue of Barca in LALIGA at 15 years, nine months and 16 days' old, and after a full pre-season in which he impressed against Tottenham Hotspur in the Joan Gamper Trophy, the winger has seemingly carried that form into the Spanish top flight this season.
If De la Fuentes does call him up and Yamal plays against Georgia on 8 September, he will overtake his teammate Gavi as the youngest-ever player to play for the 2010 FIFA World Cup winners.

Yamal could also choose to play for African nations Morocco, where his father is from, and Equatorial Guinea, where his mother is from.
However, because he was born in Spain, it seems it will be the three-time European Championship winners who he will ultimately decide to represent on the international stage, having already taken to the pitch for them at a youth level.
