With Manchester City's former captain having left to sign with Barcelona, the playmaker has now revealed the Catalan club legends who influenced him to also become a Blaugrana.

Having worn the famous sky blue of City for the past seven years, in the 2023/24 season Ilkay Gundogan will don the strip of the reigning LALIGA champions.
The 32-year-old goalscoring midfielder left England having achieved an historic accomplishment with the Premier League giants on their way to UEFA Champions League glory, and consequently treble success.
Having been coached by Pep Guardiola throughout his time in England, the Germany international will now continue learning from a manager who is well versed in "tiki-taka" in Xavi Hernandez.
The ex-Spain international enjoyed an incredible, and trophy-laden, playing career before venturing into coaching, where he continues to win trophies for Barca, and Gundogan has now admitted that his new coach was one of the Barca legends he used to look up to growing up.
"I have a recorded moment that I will never forget, which is Ronaldinho's performance at the Bernabeu, where even the Real Madrid fans applauded him," the Gelsenkirchen native told Sport.
"I really enjoyed watching that. Not only Ronaldinho. To all of Barca as a team playing that day.
"That is perhaps the most important moment I remember. But I have seen many games in the league or in the Champions League where the midfield of [Sergio] Busquets, Xavi and [Andres] Iniesta, who for me was the best in the world, played in an incredible way and I grew up learning from them.

"And of course, Barça have had the best player of all time, Leo Messi; watching him play in the last 10-15 years has been incredible."
