Liverpool 2-1 Norwich City

Liverpool secured passage to the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 2-1 win over Norwich City on Wednesday evening.

Captain Jordan Henderson was the Reds sole survivor from Sunday's Carabao Cup triumph, but first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker resumed duties between the sticks.

Liverpool instigated the earlier forays nine minutes on the clock, with Curtis Jones shaving the top of the crossbar with a smart curler after a drop of the shoulder.

Though, the Canaries recovered from their uncomfortable spell minutes apart after Teemu Pukki flashed a diagonal pass wide of the bottom corner.

Norwich felt the brunt of the Reds and were behind on 27 minutes when Takumi Minamino found an open space in the area to drive home a loose pass.

The Japanese-born doubled his and the Reds advantage 12 minutes later after a glancing header from Ben Gibson fell into his path and he took control and volleyed into the far corner.

With Harvey Elliott in for the Reds and Josh Sargent for the visitors ahead of the second half, chances aplenty thereafter appeared which neither managed to make use of it.

Liverpool obtained their first half dominance and continued to probe more goals when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain drew a cutback and curled against the outside of the woodwork.

As the Reds continued to dominate following the closing exchanges, Norwich reduced the advantage after Lukas Rupp worked space in the area and fired in from close-range.

Norwich had their tails up as the clock began to tick away and almost snatched the equaliser through a curler from John Lowe, but Alisson smothered as the Reds to victory held on for victory.

Luton Town 2-3 Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku bagged the winning goal as Chelsea sealed their spot in the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 3-2 win at Luton Town.

The Blues manager Thomas Tuchel made wholesale to the side that lost on penalties against Liverpool in the EFL Cup final, as only Mason Mount and Antonio Rudiger retained their places while Lukaku and Timo Werner were given a run.

The Championship side had a dream start after Reece Burke gave them the lead in just the second minute with a glancing header at the near post from Luke Berry's corner.

Saul Niguez eventually levelled matters from that situation just before the half-hour mark with a curling shot towards the bottom corner after he was setup by Werner.

However, Tuchel's charges were advancing high into Luton's half in the closing phase of the first stanza and they were punished after Harry Cornick beat the offside trap to go through on goal from Carlos Gomes' defence-splitting pass and fired a strike past goalkeeper Kepa.

Tuchel made a double attacking change on the hour-mark, as Christian Pulisic replaced Kenedy and another youngster Harvey Vale was given a chance to impress in place of Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Blues' pressure finally paid off after Werner levelled matters 22 minutes before time with a toe-poked effort into the bottom corner after a through ball by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The turnaround was complete with 12 minutes left on the clock when Lukaku put the visitors ahead with a  strike at the back post after a cross by Werner.

Chelsea managed the game well in the closing minutes, as they denied the Hatters any chance at goal by knocking the ball around with confidence and they held on to book a spot in the quarter-finals.
