FA Cup Report: Chelsea v Luton Town 24 January 2021

Result: Chelsea 3-1 Luton Town

Date: 24 January 2021

Venue: Stamford Bridge

Tammy Abraham bagged a hat-trick as Chelsea defeated Luton Town 3-1 to advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues got the lead after just 10 minutes as Timo Werner's cross deflected into the path of Abraham, whose scuffed effort sailed into the far corner.

The lead was doubled seven minutes later through Abraham, who rose above his marker to head home Reece James' cross for his second goal of the day.

Luton did manage to pull a goal back in the 29th minute when Jordan Clark popped up in the box to unleash a first-time volley that trickled past Kepa Arrizabalaga, who should have done better.

The Blues continued to dominate as they went in search of a third goal, but the likes of Werner and Christian Pulisic were unable to convert their chances.

Kepa came to Chelsea's rescue on the hour mark with a good save to deny Luton's Cornick in a one-on-one situation after an error from James.

Abraham sealed the tie for the home side on 73 minutes with a simple finish into an empty net after getting on the end of Callum Hudson-Odoi's well-weighted pass to complete his hat-trick.

Chelsea had a chance to add a fourth goal on 85 minutes but Werner was unable to conver from the penalty spot, but three goals were enough to secure the for the Blues, who will now face trip to Championship outfit Barnsley in the next round.
