FA Cup Report: Brighton and Hove Albion v Blackpool

Result: Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1 Blackpool

Date: 23 January 2021

Venue: AMEX Stadium

Brighton and Hove Albion advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup after defeating Blackpool, with Percy Tau playing just over an hour.

The Bafana Bafana international earned his start in the cup after making his debut from the bench in the third round.

Bright looked to get the job done in regulation time after needing extra-time to see off Newport County, who netted a 90th minute equaliser.

The Premier League outfit got the opening goal on 27 minutes when Yves Bissouma found the top corner with a superb effort from distance.

With halftime looming, the League Two outfit managed to get back on level terms thanks to Madine's close-range finish.

It wasn't too long before Graham Potter's men were back in front when MacAllister's shot took a deflection off Steven Alzate and sailed into the back of the net on 58 minutes.

Brighton opted to make three changes soon after, which included the departure of Tau for Neil Maupay as the hosts looked to seal the win.

Even with the flurry of changes, the home side were unable to add to their advantage but the two goals were enough to seal a spot in the fifth round.
