Croatia's Progression In Danger, Scotland Get First Point

Croatia's Progression In Danger, Scotland Get First Point

Scotland 1-1 Switzerland

Switzerland got closer to booking their spot in the round of 16 after a 1-1 draw against Scotland in a penultimate Group A encounter at RheinEnergieStadion.

Switzerland made only one change after their win over Hungry, as Xherdan Shaqiri was recalled and supported the attack of Dan Ndoye, Ruben Vargas and Michel Aebischer from midfield.

Scotland, meanwhile, recalled Billy Gilmour, who joined Scott McTominay, John McGinn and Callum McGregor in midfield.

The Tartan Army went ahead after 13 minutes after an unfortunate own goal Fabian Schar, who deflected a shot in the near post into his own net.

Shaqiri got the equaliser for the Swiss 13 minutes later with a strike from a rebound.

Breel Embolo thought he had netted the winner for Murat Yakin's men after finding the back of the net in the dying minutes but the goal was disallowed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for offside.

The Swiss moved to four points in second spot in the group while Scotland picked up their first point in third place.

Croatia 2-2 Albania

Croatia's progression in the tournament is hanging by a thread after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Albania in the penultimate Group B clash at Volksparkstadion.

Croatia made three changes following their heavy defeat against Spain in their opener, as Bruno Petkovic, Josip Juranovic and Ivan Perisic were recalled.

After netting the fastest goal in the history of the tournament against Italy in their 2-1 loss against Italy in their opening game, Albania had another dream start after going ahead within the first 11 minutes courtesy of Qazim Laci's bullet header from close-range.

Andrej Kramaric only equalised for the Chequered Ones with 16 minutes remaining after showing great composure from a through ball by Ante Budimir.

Zlatko Dalic's charges went ahead two minutes later after an own goal by Klaus Gjasula, who deflected a shot into the wrong net.

However, Gjasula redeemed himself in added time after he netted the equaliser for Albania with a strike from a rebound.
