Legendary Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has revealed which six players made him fall in love with football, with Zinedine Zidane and Diego Maradona both featuring in his list.

After being nominated to take part in a viral online challenge, the former Liverpool captain took to Instagram on Tuesday evening to reveal the six players who made him fall in love with football.

Among those who featured were the Reds' all-time leading goalscorer Ian Rush and fellow club icon John Barnes, as well as former England internationals Paul Gascoigne and Gary Lineker.
The current Rangers manager also named Real Madrid boss Zidane as one of his childhood heroes, with Argentina great Maradona claiming the final spot.

Gerrard was responding to a nomination from ex-teammate Jamie Redknapp, and in turn nominated the likes of Ian Wright, Luis Garcia, Neil Mellor and Robbie Keane to share their own lists.
